All Dressed up and Somewhere to Go

On Wednesday, May 8, members of Mrs. Shoe's English 12 class traveled downtown to conduct mock job interviews with local business men and women.

The interviews were the culminating activity of a brief career unit in Senior English. Throughout the unit, students created cover letters and resumes. Some were generic in nature, and others were geared toward their career aspirations.  The group also spent time discussing the proper way to complete a standard job application.

Following a lesson on interview etiquette, practice questions were completed, and the in-class practice sessions began in order to prepare for the big day.

The interviews were conducted at the Bank of Elgin by Gary Arehart, Anne Parks, and Michael Moser. Interviews at the Elgin City Office were conducted by Vicki Miller.

Congratulations to the Seniors on a job well done, and thank you to our community members for being so willing to lend a hand in our learning experience.
