The 2010 Elgin High School Alumni Banquet is quickly approaching. Our committee is excited about this year’s
banquet and we hope you will make plans to attend. This year, the “open house” will follow the banquet. We made this
change two years ago and it has provided many Alumni Members and their families an opportunity to walk through the
schools.
Several of our older Alumni Members have requested that we honor classes every five years. We have decided
to include the classes of 1935, 1945, 1955, 1965, 1975, 1995 and 2005, as honored classes. These classes will not have a speaker at the banquet, but we will honor and recognize the members in attendance. We will again be honoring the “ten year” classes and the 25-year class of 1985. There will be a speaker from each of these classes.
Thank you for your past donations to our “special projects” fund. Projects from recent years have included
donating $3,000 toward the marquee sign located on the gym and the purchase of a 5’ x 8’ enclosed trailer to haul items such as band equipment, sports equipment, speech props, etc. The Alumni Committee will continue to contribute wisely to projects that can benefit the high school experience for all students. Any financial help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
In addition, your donations provide for scholarships to a graduating member of this year’s high school class. Last
year, the committee awarded a scholarship to three graduating seniors. Again, thank you for your generosity. Click on the link below to find the “Honored Alumni Award” nomination form. Our committee awards this honor to an individual who has made a significant contribution to their community, school and society. Please take the time to nominate a former EHS graduate for this award. go to the “Alumni tab”. At this website, you will find alumni updates and a form to submit your address and information
about yourself so that you can stay in touch with your classmates and high school friends. Mrs. Rita Heithoff, Secretary,Paula Jensen and the EHS staff have done a great job with this website.
Every year, invitations are mailed to all of the Elgin High School graduates. The Alumni Committee sends out
over 1,000 invitations and our most difficult task is tracking down addresses for the invitations that are returned to us. If you know of a classmate, relative or friend that does not receive an invitation every year or that has recently moved to a different address, please encourage that person to submit their new address on the website mentioned above or contact a committee member.
The Elgin High School Alumni Banquet for next year will be held on June 25, 2011. If you have any questions or
